The Doors - The Unknown Soldier

November 25th, 2007

A video clip of the Doors performing “The Unknown Soldier” live on European television in 1968.Note : This clip is paused for the first 18 seconds or so

The track “The Unknown Soldier” was released on The Door’s third album “Waiting for the Sun” in 1968 and was created as Jim Morrison’s response to the media portrayal of the Vietnam conflict to ordinary American citizens. The song came under intense scrutiny during the time and was consequently banned from commercial radio airplay. With regard to war and the media I find “The Unknown Soldier” shares the same relevance now as it did then.
