Cream - Sunshine of Your Love

December 1st, 2007

Featuring one of the most memorable guitar/bass riffs of all time the Cream’s “Sunshine of Your Love” was an instant classic upon its release in 1968. Released on their album “Disraeli Gears” the song was so well received it ultimately became Cream’s and Atlantic Record’s best-selling single of all time.

“Sunshine of Your Love” was written by band members Jack Bruce, Eric Clapton and friend Pete Brown. The song grew during an all night creative session from inspiration received following the attendance of a Jimi Hendrix concert by Bruce and Clapton. Initially, Sunshine of Your Love” was rejected by Cream’s record label Atlantic Records. It wasn’t until a personal recommendation by fellow label mate Booker T . Jones of Booker T. and the MG’s caused them to reconsider. It’s a good thing they did.
