Hurricane was released by in Bob Dylan to protest the imprisonment and support the innocence of middleweight boxer Rubin “Hurricane” Carter who was allegedly involved in a triple murder at the Lafayette Bar and Grill in Paterson, New Jersey. In the song, Dylan sounds off on the alleged acts of racism and profiling that took place against Carter which lead up to an unfair trial and life sentence in 1967. The Federal Courts later overturned the ruling setting Rubin Carter free.
Dylan’s Hurricaine was released on Dylan’s 1976 album Desire. Later it was featured on the soundtrack of the film biography “Hurricane” which re-told of story of Rubin Carter. This is a great song by Dylan. Enjoy!
Here’s another great video of the Ramones this time, performing their rendition of “California Sun” in front of a packed crowd at Club Citta in Kawaskai, Japan. Sure wish I could have been there to see this concert.
The Ramones released “California Sun” on their 1976 compilation “All the Stuff (And More!) Volume 1″ and again later on 1999’s “Hey! Ho! Let’s Go: The Anthology”.
Originally, “California Sun” was written by Henry Glover and Morris Levy, and performed by The Rivieras and has since been covered by many others. The Ramones version has really distanced itself from the others however, as the Ramones version can often be heard anywhere from movies to television commercials. Enjoy!
This is truly a great Beatles video of the “Fab Four” performing yesterday in front of a packed Tokyo Japan audience. Listen to the excitement of the crowd while they’re on stage. “Yesterday” was originally released on the Beatles album entitled “Help!” in 1965 along side other hits such as “Ticket to Ride” and “Help!”.
Quite easily, “Yesterday” can be considered one of the Beatles most memorable hits. According to the Guinness book, there have been over 3000 recorded versions to date. Enjoy this classic video!
